2011–2024 Former Manzoni Cinema, Paderno - Udine

Renovation and Extension of the Former Manzoni Cinema – Paderno, Udine

The renovation and extension of the former Manzoni Cinema form part of a broader urban regeneration project aimed at returning to the community a symbolic landmark of post-war reconstruction, deeply rooted in the neighborhood’s collective memory. Launched in 2011 and completed in 2024, the project covered an area of approximately 4,000 sqm, transforming the former cinema into a fully operational cultural and social center.

The core of the intervention is the ground-floor auditorium, a multifunctional space designed to host film productions, theatrical performances, concerts and conferences, now widely used by local organizations and residents. Supporting facilities for performers and speakers were created in connection with the rear park, ensuring efficient and flexible management of activities.

On the first floor, the project includes a smaller hall on the rear side and a large area dedicated to creative spaces and youth-oriented activities, supporting social and cultural initiatives. The intervention is completed by the creation of a public square, the redevelopment of the surrounding park and a comprehensive reorganization of parking areas, contributing to a clear and functional redefinition of the entire site.

The project reaffirms the original goal of reconstruction understood as the rebirth of an urban symbol, capable of fostering new relationships, activities and opportunities for community life.
