2019 Apartment in Historic Villa – Moruzzo
Restoration of an Apartment in a Listed Historic Villa – Moruzzo (UD)
The project concerns the restoration of an apartment within an 18th-century historic villa in Moruzzo, protected by the Heritage Authority. The dwelling was created through the recovery of an area originally used for staircases and servants’ quarters, reinterpreted with a new internal layout that blends historic character with a contemporary architectural language.
The intervention included structural reinforcement, moisture control works, consolidation of the roof level, complete upgrading of building systems and finishes, as well as custom-designed furnishings developed in harmony with the overall concept. The living area was conceived to also host exhibitions and small installations, featuring a modular lighting system and two symmetrical arches that organize and define the space.
The project was completed with the creation of a cellar obtained through new excavation on the footprint of previously discovered masonry belonging to an earlier building.
