2023 - 2024 Entrance Building of the Mortegliano Cemetery

Restoration of the Monumental Entrance of the Mortegliano Cemetery (UD)

The project concerns the conservative restoration of the entrance building of the Mortegliano Cemetery, a publicly owned structure that forms the monumental access to the cemetery complex. Built during the period of the First World War, the building represents an element of strong historical and symbolic value for the local community.

The intervention is conceived as a conservative restoration, with no volumetric alterations or introduction of new elements, aiming to preserve the original image of the building and ensure its long-term durability. The planned works include the restoration of the roof waterproofing, the preservation and consolidation of the façades, the treatment and protection of surfaces, and the recovery of the building envelope’s proper performance, compromised by natural aging and deterioration.

The project therefore focuses on the material and functional recovery of the volume, restoring architectural clarity and dignity to a historic structure that marks the entrance to the cemetery and defines its representative character. The works were preceded by a detailed survey of the existing conditions, supporting the final and detailed design phases.
