Restoration of the Historic Park of Villa De Brandis – Phase 1, San Giovanni al Natisone (UD)

The project concerns the restoration of the historic park of Villa De Brandis, a protected complex under the supervision of the Heritage Authority. The park, of considerable size, is a significant example of a late 19th-century English landscape park, characterized by a design aimed at enhancing the natural character of the spaces, winding paths and scenic viewpoints.
The intervention is intended to preserve and enhance the historical and landscape identity of the park and includes the restoration of the artificial lake, the recovery of historic pathways, the rehabilitation of the ramp connecting the villa to the park and the upgrading of access points. The restoration of protected elements within the park, including the dovecote and access stairways, is also part of the project.
From a vegetational perspective, the project предусматриes the replacement of deteriorated species and the introduction of tree varieties consistent with the original 19th-century planting, selected to reconstruct historical visual relationships and viewpoints.
Particular attention is given to lighting, conceived as discreet and non-invasive: lighting fixtures are integrated into the landscape without creating excessive scenic effects. The project was preceded by detailed surveys using advanced technologies (drone and laser scanning) and is currently ongoing.
