Renovation and Extension of a Farmhouse for the Creation of Eight Apartments in Brazzacco di Moruzzo

The project involves the transformation of a farmhouse into eight residential units intended for long-term rental, with the aim of combining the recovery of its rural identity with new functional and performance requirements. The intervention enhances the original character of the building by preserving exposed stone on the façades and redefining the outdoor spaces through the reorganization of the courtyard, the construction of a fountain with a reflecting pool, the conservation of existing trees and the redesign of internal pathways.

A distinctive feature of the project is the external first-floor walkway, reinterpreted in a contemporary manner while remaining consistent with the traditional architectural language. The wooden walkway is made fully accessible through the addition of new staircases at its ends and an extension on the eastern side that restores the planimetric symmetry of the main building. The same solution is applied to the smaller structure, formerly a granary, where the walkway becomes a terrace and access to the first-floor apartment.

Particular attention is given to accessibility and the elimination of architectural barriers: all units are accessible, and an internal elevator is installed in the main building. The apartments, generally composed of a living area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms, are designed to achieve Energy Class A, with high acoustic insulation performance. Thermal insulation is applied internally in order to preserve the material quality of the exterior.
